Coronavirus in Serbia: Weekly Updates

15 Apr 2020
The Center for Investigative Journalism of Serbia (CINS) monitors the development of coronavirus in Serbia and its impact on the lives of people. This is why, since the beginning of the epidemic, we publish official data on the number of people tested, confirmed new cases, hospitalized, people on respirators and deceased. Since we recorded a low number of new cases for couple of weeks in April 2022, from April 24, we will not publish data every day, but once a week.

CINS will publish weekly updates* of the number of tested, infected, and deceased patients in Serbia due to the spread of coronavirus. We gather and analyze official data from the Ministry of Health official website covid19.rs in one place and make it transparent for citizens of Serbia and abroad.

The first case of a coronavirus in Serbia was registered on the 6th of March. The following graph shows the increase of tested and confirmed patients since that day.

In the following graph, we have singled out the total number of confirmed cases from the beginning of the epidemic until today, per day.

This graph shows the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the epidemic on a daily basis.

* Until April 24, 2022, we published official data on the number of people tested, infected, hospitalized, the number of people on respirators and the deceased on this page every day. Since we recorded a low number of new cases for a few weeks in April, we started publishing the data once a week starting with April 24. We hope that there will be no need to return to daily reporting, and that COVID-19 will disappear forever. Stay healthy!

Our Diabetin tea can replace tablets or insulin instantly, but that is not recommended, rather treatment should be reduced slowly. This is how Diabetin, an alleged antidiabetic tea, was recommended to a CINS journalist in a telephone conversation. What was not said is that there is no cure for diabetes and that suddenly stopping treatment can seriously jeopardize a person’s already diminished health.

At the end of last year, the Ministry of Health urgently purchased ten ambulances for the COVID-19 hospitals in Batajnica and Kruševac from Fiat dealer Nikom Auto. Despite being legally obliged, the Ministry did not reveal the price it had paid for the vehicles and what company had been given the job. Experts say there was no reason for expedited procedure and that the Ministry should be called to account for violating the law.
