The media scene in Serbia has long been a representation of society. The allocation of state money to pro-regime media and the repression of independent media is an increasingly difficult reality for society to tackle.
Through media competitions, public procurement, commercial contracts, and loans, citizens’ money often goes into the hands of pro-regime media, who violate the code of ethics.

From direct to subtle, the pressure to keep journalists from reporting on hot topics in this area has almost never stopped. In recent years, the destruction of media freedom has also been extended to the institution of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, which has greatly aided the freedom of reporting and the disclosure of public documents. In addition to the individual, collective threats to the profession are increasing through tax inspections.
