{"id":34518,"date":"2023-01-20T11:45:21","date_gmt":"2023-01-20T09:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cins.rs\/?p=34518"},"modified":"2023-01-20T11:45:21","modified_gmt":"2023-01-20T09:45:21","slug":"we-stand-by-atlatszo-and-condemn-incitement-against-journalists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cins.rs\/en\/we-stand-by-atlatszo-and-condemn-incitement-against-journalists\/","title":{"rendered":"We stand by Atlatszo and condemn incitement against journalists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hungarian pro-government press is making <a href=\"https:\/\/english.atlatszo.hu\/2023\/01\/13\/editor-in-chief-of-atlatszo-to-media1-a-smear-campaign-has-been-launched-against-using-the-methods-of-putins-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extremely serious accusations<\/a> (betrayal of the nation, working for foreign orders, attacking minority Hungarians in the neighboring countries, and carrying a national security risk for Hungary) against investigative journalism outlet \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3, based in Budapest, Hungary.<\/p><p>\u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 came under attack because of their role in the &#8220;Hungarian Money&#8221; (hungarianmoney.eu) cross-border investigative journalism project led by \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 Erd\u00e9ly based in Romania. (\u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 Erd\u00e9ly was inspired by \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3, but the two organisations are independent in terms of organisation and funding).<\/p><p>Apart from \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 (Hungary), and \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 Erd\u00e9ly (Romania), project partners were Centar za Istra\u017eiva\u010dko Novinarstvo Srbije (Serbia), O\u0161tro (Slovenia, Croatia) and Investigat\u00edvne Centrum J\u00e1na Kuciaka (Slovakia).<\/p><p>The &#8220;Hungarian Money&#8221; (hungarianmoney.eu) project was one of a series of cross-border investigative journalism projects led by the minority Hungarian-run investigative project \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 Erd\u00e9ly based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, a project that monitors the Hungarian state&#8217;s support of minorities abroad and its publication was in the public interest.<\/p><p>We condemn the smearing campaign against \u00c1tl\u00e1tsz\u00f3 that is centered around an unchallenged investigation two years after its publication.
