This was seventh national award for CINS reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tCINS journalist <strong>An\u0111ela Milivojevi\u0107<\/strong> won the award for excellence in investigative reporting for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cins.rs\/english\/research_stories\/article\/jorgovanka-tabakovi-plagiarized-a-significant-part-of-her-doctoral-thesis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">story that showed over 20% of Jorgovanka Tabakovi\u0107\u2019s doctoral thesis is plagiarized<\/a>. Tabakovi\u0107 is the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia. Her PhD is full of literally copied parts of other authors\u2019 work without citing and quoting the source.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tIn explanation of the nomination, jury outlined that significant time was needed for data collection and analysis, and also noted the use of innovative methods.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tThe online media category award was shared with the investigation &#8220;Making a Killing: The 1.2 Billion Euro Arms Pipeline to Middle East&#8221;, published on websites of the <em>Balkan Investigative Reporting Network<\/em> (BIRN), the<em> Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project <\/em>(OCCRP) and <em>Guardian<\/em>, in July 2016. Journalists who worked on the story were:<strong> Lawrence Marzouk <\/strong>(BIRN),<strong> Ivan Angelovski<\/strong> (BIRN), <strong>Miranda Patruci\u0107<\/strong> (OCCRP), <strong>Atanas \u010cobanov<\/strong> (Bivol), <strong>Du\u0161ica Tomovi\u0107<\/strong> (BIRN), <strong>Jelena \u0106osi\u0107<\/strong> (BIRN), <strong>Jelena Svir\u010di\u0107<\/strong>, <strong>Lindita Cela<\/strong> (BIRN) and <strong>Paul Holcim<\/strong> (Czech Center for Investigative Journalism).<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tIn the category of print media the winner is BIRN&#8217;s journalist <strong>Jelena Veljkovi\u0107<\/strong> with her story &#8220;Secret Vu\u010di\u0107 cafe&#8221;, published last year in the weekly Vreme.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tFor the best TV investigation jury declared <strong>Maja Nikoli\u0107<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cProgressive \u2018bots\u2019 from the Romanian \u2018kitchen\u2019&#8221; story, which was broadcasted on N1 television in January 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\tThis year 75 journalists with about 115 media articles and reports applied for the awards. Applications were considered by four jury members:<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\n\t&#8211; <strong>Danica Vu\u010deni\u0107<\/strong>, journalist of <em>Insajder <\/em>production<br \/>\n\t&#8211; <strong>Milorad Ivanovi\u0107<\/strong>, editor in chief of the weekly <em>Newsweek<\/em> in Serbia<br \/>\n\t&#8211;<strong> Predrag Blagojevi\u0107<\/strong>, editor in chief of the portal <em>Ju\u017ene vesti<\/em><br \/>\n\t&#8211; <strong>Pe\u0111a Obradovi\u0107<\/strong>, producer at the TV <em>N1<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CINS journalist An\u0111ela Milivojevi\u0107 received this year&#8217;s Independent Journalists\u2019 Association of Serbia award for investigative journalism in the online category.
